Roy Garrett

1 1
February 2, 1955 (Newark, New Jersey) - April 3, 1992

Roy Garrett (born Roy Samber) grew up in New Jersey and began working as a stripper in the late '70s in New York, including at the Ramrod Theater, the Big Top, and the Gaity Theatre. He famously starred in Joe Gage's Heatstroke (1982) and worked several more times with Gage. Garrett also modeled for Christopher Rage and worked in a number of films throughout the '80s, including for Hand in Hand (Centurians of Rome) and P.M. Productions. Garrett did live performances that included his poetry and other writing and he also released an audio cassette, Hot Rod to Hell, which included music by Man Parrish. Garrett was said to be, unlike his brooding screen persona, soft-spoken and pleasant to be around. He met his long term lover, Bob Shane, in 1981 at a gym where they both worked out and the two starred in five films together. Roy and Bob lived together until Bob's death in 1987.
