1957 (Dayton, OH) - 1991
Blond bombshell Leo Ford (aka Lee Culver, born Leo Hilgeford) exemplified the clean cut blond image that resurfaced in the "GQ-yuppie" eighties. Leo was a phenomenon, cranking out one legendary porn classic after another. His career began when he and his then-lover, Jamie Wingo, appeared in J. Brian's classic 1981 film Flashbacks. He lived with J. Brian for a time when starting out.
Leo also appeared in films for William Higgins, Steve Scott, and others, starring in Blonds Do It Best, Sailor in the Wild, Class Reunion, and Surge Studios release Games, in which he plays a swimmer participating in the first San Francisco Gay Games. His sex scenes in Games are phenomenal - unforced and natural - and he even gets it on with the legendary Al Parker, who plays a photographer. Leo also performed a live show at the Follies in Manhattan and had his own mail order business for a time, selling his work.
Tragically, Leo died of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident in 1991. Of Leo, J. Brian said, "More than anything else, he reflects the attitude of the eighties - such a sweet guy. Loving, caring - the perfect combination of heat and caring. He looks like he just stepped off the cover of GQ. He's still what everyone wants - the boy next door... nobody manufactured Leo. He's self-made. He manufactured himself, offered himself to the public, and they responded."
